Here are our daycare and school classroom schedules! Each Grace Community School classroom schedule shows what’s going on throughout the day in a particular room. Other than infants (who are on their own individual schedules), each age group and room from one-year-olds and up has a particular arrangement to the day that provides structure and balance for the kids. Routines and Young Children
Establishing a regular routine has many benefits for kids. Setting a schedule and maintaining it helps children focus better and behave better in the academic setting. When teachers have routines established ahead of time with students, there is less confusion throughout the day – which can help them concentrate more easily. Routines also mean that all students know what to expect from each other as well as their teacher! This means fewer behavior problems because everyone understands expectations instead of getting frustrated when things happen differently than expected.
Routines are good for young children at home too where parents should do everything possible to keep them consistent so kids get used to having some kind of daily routine – even if this only consists of little activities like saying a quick hello to all family members or playing a few minutes of their favorite game before bedtime. This will help them learn how to establish and maintain schedules for themselves as they grow older, but it also helps them feel more comfortable with this type of regularity so that they know what is expected from everyone in the family!
What Our Schedules Are Like
We change activities every 10-15 minutes, so kids don’t get bored. Each time block on the schedule covers roughly an hour, and shows what’s happening during a particular time period. Classrooms operate using multiple groups which rotate between the different schedule items. Each of the main teachers in a room is responsible for a specific activity during a time period.
Entries marked “Activity #1,” “Activity #2,” and so on are educational activities from weekly lesson plans created using the College Can Begin at 2 Curriculum, and vary depending on the theme week, the subject being covered, and academic level of the students.
What will your child learn at Grace Community School?
Throughout the day there are also quiet times for playing with toys individually, reading books either alone or together with friends/teachers, doing art projects, building blocks, coloring activities, and music/poems.
Classroom Activities
Classroom activities include:
You can read more about how our curriculum and schedules help kids develop here. Sometimes there are special events like the Friday Whale March, show and tell, parent story times, and summer camp activities.
Bathroom Breaks/Changing Times, Rest Times, and Meals
Bathroom breaks and changing times are scheduled throughout the day (roughly every two hours), and of course the bathroom is available any time as needed between breaks. There are also outdoor playtimes (15-20 minutes at a time per group). Note that not all children have nap times, but all classrooms younger than Pre-K have a rest time between 12:00-2:00.
The day always includes breakfast, lunch, and snack times along with clean-up times. Bible Time is done twice daily – once in the morning, once in the afternoon – for classrooms with kids ages two years and older.
