Kindergarten at Grace Community School

We believe that a kindergarten program should be more than just a school; it should feel like a family. Our dedicated teachers provide personal attention and guidance to help each student grow and develop at their own pace. We are proud to offer a Christ-centered education that instills values and morals in our students in addition to advanced academics while still leaving room for fun and play.

Kindergarten is often seen as the year when academic learning begins in earnest. However, at Grace Community School, we believe that kindergarten should build on the strong foundation laid in Pre-K. Our program is challenging and engaging yet still developmentally appropriate for five-year-olds. Our students learn to read and write, but they also explore geometry, science, and other subjects. In addition, they participate in art, music, and PE classes. By the time they finish K5, our students are well-prepared for first grade and beyond. If you are looking for a school that will challenge your child academically, Grace Community School is the perfect place for you.

Nationally Recognized Kindergarten Curriculum

We use Abeka for our kindergarten class, which is a nationally recognized curriculum known for its strong academic focus and Christian values. Abeka is a comprehensive program that covers all subject areas, including language arts, math, science, social studies, and Bible. The curriculum is designed to challenge students while still being developmentally appropriate for their age.

One of the advantages of the Abeka curriculum is that it provides a strong foundation in phonics, which is essential for reading and writing success. Students learn to read using a systematic approach that emphasizes letter recognition, sound-symbol correspondence, and blending sounds into words. They also learn to write by practicing letter formation and writing words and sentences.

In addition to phonics, the Abeka curriculum incorporates hands-on activities and projects that allow students to explore concepts in a meaningful way. For example, students might conduct science experiments, build structures with blocks, or create art projects that relate to a particular theme or topic.

Another benefit of the Abeka curriculum is that it incorporates Christian values and principles into all subject areas. Students learn about God’s love, the importance of prayer, and the value of serving others. They also study Bible stories and learn scripture verses.

The Abeka curriculum provides an excellent foundation for academic success and spiritual growth. Our experienced teachers use this curriculum to create a challenging and engaging learning environment where students can thrive.

Independent Reading & Writing

Our private school kindergarten program emphasizes the importance of independent reading and writing skills to prepare your child for success in their kindergarten year and beyond.

Our experienced teachers provide a structured and engaging environment that focuses on classroom routines, independent practice, and collaborative learning to promote self-regulation and self-help skills. Our curriculum incorporates recent research and best practices, including the use of the scientific method to explore scientific concepts and promote critical thinking skills.

We recognize that every child has unique needs, and our personalized attention and small classroom setting ensure that each child receives the proper grip and individualized instruction they need to develop a strong foundation in language arts, ideas, number knowledge, and self-regulation.

Our program also encourages children to explore family stories and personal experiences through independent reading and writing activities. By exploring real-life situations and connecting with their family stories, children develop their creativity and problem-solving skills, which are essential for success in school and life.

Join us today and give your child the gift of a comprehensive, private school education that promotes independent thinking, collaborative learning, and provides peace of mind for parents.

What is the Difference Between Public and Private Kindergarten?

When it comes to choosing between public and private kindergarten programs, there are several key differences to consider. Public schools are funded by the government and offer free education to all students, while private schools require tuition payments.

One major difference between public and private kindergarten programs is class size. Public kindergarten classrooms often have 20 or more students, while private schools like Grace Community School typically have much smaller class sizes (ours has 8-12 students in each class). This allows our experienced teachers to give each student individualized attention and support, which can be critical for academic success.

In addition to smaller class sizes, private kindergarten programs like Grace Community School offer an advanced curriculum that provides students with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge at an accelerated pace. Our Abeka Christian school curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire students while also instilling values and character traits that are essential for success in life.

Another advantage of private kindergarten programs is the opportunity for extracurricular activities. At Grace Community School, we offer a variety of extracurricular activities such as art, music, dance, and karate that allow students to explore their interests and develop new skills. These activities also provide opportunities for socialization and building friendships outside of the classroom.

Choosing a private kindergarten program like Grace Community School means choosing a high-quality education that focuses on individualized attention, advanced academics, and strong values.
