Matthew 12:40

“For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

Why do we have this verse?

This verse is important to us because it speaks to the heart of who we are as a school, and our faith. We are a grace-based community, and this verse is a key part of that. It reminds us that just as God showed grace to Jonah by rescuing him from the belly of the whale, so too did He show grace to us by sending His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins.

We believe that grace is at the core of who we are at Grace Community School and it is something that we want to instill in our students. It is a powerful reminder of God’s love for us and His desire for us to show that same love to others.

We also haven’t forgotten about the whale from the Jonah story — Gracie the Whale!
