Prepare Your Child for Preschool

Four-Year-Old Daycare

Quality 4-Year-Old Childcare

Grace Community School’s four-year-old childcare program prepares students for preschool, kindergarten, and beyond.  As kids get older, we take advantage of young minds and bodies ready to do and learn more. It’s not just babysitting – our developmentally appropriate College Can Begin at 2 Curriculum provides ample opportunities for making learning fun!

Assisting kids in learning at their own pace, we continue our phonics instruction. Four-year-olds who have been attending Grace Community School Beginning math instruction, storytimes, music, and song times are also part of the daily routine with karate, dance, art, and music lessons available. Instead of daycare, why not school? Opportunities for kids to play on our awesome playgrounds, our free food program, and plenty more teacher- and self-directed activities round out the day.

Four-year-olds are growing, developing, and learning so much and we want to help your child reach their fullest potential. We know that children learn best when they are having fun, so our lesson plans include a variety of activities that will engage and challenge them.

Come see us and let Grace Community School show you why our four-year-old childcare is the best around.

Our Approach

Our four-year-old daycare programs are fun and developmentally appropriate. With highly trained teachers we strive to instill a love of learning in all our students. At Grace Community School we use the College Can Begin at 2 Curriculum as our basis for daily education programming. Formal training along with lots of opportunities for play allows our students to develop emotional, physical, and cognitive skills during their preschool years.

Grace Community School’s exceptional early literacy and math program allows our 4-year-olds to make quick gains in their skills. Our students are taught with the optimal balance between teacher- and self-directed learning, allowing students to learn from their peers as well as from the curriculum. Children gain an advantage over their peers at many preschools where academic subjects are not taught and play is the focus.

Grace Community School offers four-year-old preschool children the opportunity to excel. We are committed to helping each child fulfill their potential for success in academics, social skills, spirituality, and emotional maturity. We work with you to help your child reach their goals. Our teachers are nurturing, professional, dedicated to their students, and possess the educational background required for preschool instruction. Your little one can grow with us because Grace Community School offers child care options for kids age six weeks and up, including Florida Pre-K, kindergarten, summer camp, and after-school care.

What Our Four-Year-Old Class Is Like

Our four-year-old class is set up for learning! Classroom furniture divides the room into centers and interest areas including phonics-reading, math, art, blocks, science, and dramatic play. Kids can choose which activity to do first on their own during free time. Quiet areas let students read or participate in other peaceful activities without other children intruding. Colorful rugs help to create an inviting environment.

Different children learn in different ways, so we have options for varying sizes of groups and academic instruction that incorporates multiple learning styles throughout the day. Our students’ health is important, too! Meals are included free with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks for all students.

Our students learn through exploration, discovery, and participation in both teacher-led and autonomous lessons.

Young children need tools to learn right. Some of the early learning materials in our four-year classrooms include:

  • Reading nook area
  • Phonics instructional materials
  • Writing materials
  • Construction materials
  • Baby doll house building supplies
  • Math manipulative sets
  • Dramatic play center with dress-up clothes
  • Musical instruments
  • Sensory materials
  • Blocks
  • Puzzles
  • STEM supplies
  • And don’t forget about our outdoor areas! We have multiple playgrounds so different day care ages can play outside at the same time while staying separate.

We’re open throughout the school year and also in the summer, so you have the option to attend five days a week year-round. Part-time options are also available. Hours include Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

How Our Early Education Teaches Young Children

Our early education uses the College Can Begin at 2 Curriculum to teach 4-year-olds. This program helps children learn about letters, numbers, shapes, colors, social studies, and more. They also learn how to socialize with other children and develop important skills for their future. Each preschool learning activity works to boost learning in one or more of the seven domains of early childhood education. A key goal of our four-year-old program is to prepare the child for Pre-K, kindergarten, and beyond. No other child care center in Southwest Florida has the track record of Grace Community School and the College Can Begin at 2 Curriculum when it comes to getting kids ready for kindergarten!

In the classroom, students have a lot of opportunities to work with their hands and build things. They also do a lot of activities that help them learn to solve problems and give them chances to interact with other children in a positive way. After all – emotional intelligence is just as important as academic intelligence!

Teachers use lesson plans taken from the Curriculum. All teaching is done with fun games and activities that also go along with the week’s theme – it’s different every week to keep kids involved in their learning. Learning shouldn’t be boring! Families can see what the theme week is and what special activities are coming up on our online school calendar.

Each week is a different theme week like Dinosaurs Week, Sports Week, Around the World Week, and many more. Arts and crafts projects are also matched with the theme. For example, kids might learn about bats during Animal Planet Week by making paper bat crafts or they may do a special snack during Food Week.

Importantly, the classroom schedule includes small group and individual instruction times throughout the day for reading and math instruction. We call these Reading Circles and Math Circles, and they are a great way for young children to learn. Read more about what your child will learn at Grace Community School

The age of 4 is a special time when kids’ brains are growing and expanding their abilities. A lot of this growth happens through play. Grace Community provides our students with plenty of opportunities for healthy, creative play both indoors and out. It’s important that kids get exercise when they’re not learning in the classroom!
