What We're Looking for in a Caregiver

It takes a special kind of person to take care of and educate young children. Even more so to be a Grace Community School teacher or teacher aide.

One of the most significant quality factors in child development is the people who spend time interacting with children. The quality of care and education we give our students directly impacts their lives, chances for future success, and even our student’s home lives. We’re not looking for babysitters – we want people who will come to work excited to play with, teach, and interact with the children in our care. Being someone who is friendly, detail-oriented, and willing to take constructive criticism is a must. You don’t have to know everything. You do need to be able to listen to your supervisors, get along with coworkers, and accept training.

Grace Community School provides services to a wide range of children from diverse backgrounds and home environments, requiring us to be very patient and empathetic. Families depend on us to do a great job teaching and taking care of their children. Our employees must be dependable, as we maintain strict caregiver-to-child ratios. This isn’t a “phone it in” job: we want people who are happy to be a Grace Community School caregiver. Having a zeal for working with kids goes a very long way towards success.
