What It's Like in Our Two-Year-Old Classroom

Our Grace Community School two-year-old classrooms are full of curious minds and eager learners. The environment is stimulating, with plenty of hands-on activities to keep little ones engaged. The room is colorful and inviting. Our teachers are patient and encouraging, providing the perfect balance of support and challenge. We give the children the opportunity to explore, discover, and grow. They learn to socialize and cooperate with their peers, and they develop important pre-academic skills. And it’s fun! Our two-year-old classrooms are a special place where young children can thrive.

Classroom materials and areas for the 2’s include:

  • Blocks of all shapes and sizes for building towers, houses, and more
  • A wide variety of balls for rolling, throwing, and bouncing
  • Dolls and toy animals for pretending and caring
  • Simple puzzles with just a few pieces for early problem-solving practice
  • Art supplies galore for painting, coloring, and crafting
  • Musical instruments for making music and noise
  • Quiet areas for kids who need a break
  • Outdoor play areas for fresh air and fun
  • Sensory toys for exploring texture, sound, and more

We Help With Toilet Training

Among the most parent-celebrated developmental milestones is potty training. While there is no one perfect time to start, most experts agree that age 2 is when parents should begin thinking about potty training. At this age, children are usually able to understand basic instructions and follow simple commands. They also have sufficient muscle control to be able to use the toilet independently. In addition, children of this age are generally less resistant to change and more motivated to please their parents.

Potty training can be a daunting task for parents, but Grace Community School makes it easy! We provide resources and help for parents of students as young as two years old. We have a step-by-step process that makes the process simple and straightforward. Plus, our staff is available to answer any questions you may have along the way. Make potty training a breeze with Grace Community School!

College Can Begin at 2

Some people think that young children aren’t ready for academic instruction. They believe that kids this age should just be playing and having fun. However, research shows that academic instruction at a young age can have lasting benefits. Children who attend high-quality preschool programs are more likely to go to college and earn higher wages as adults.

What sets us apart from other child care providers is that we don’t hold kids back. Children are capable of much more than many adults give them credit for. Even as young as two years old, we begin teaching the basics of reading using the Grace Community School phonics program – starting with learning the alphabet, the vowels and their letter sounds, and lots of read aloud books. The goal (made possible through our Reading Circles for 3’s and 4’s) is for kids to eventually read books by themselves!

Math, social studies, and science are also a part of our curriculum for two-year-olds. We believe that kids this age are never too young to start learning about the world around them. In math, we focus on teaching numbers and counting. In social studies, we teach about families and communities. In science, we focus on exploring the five senses.

Many parents tell us that their child’s experience at Grace Community School was the best preparation for preschool, kindergarten, and beyond.

Other advantages of the College Can Begin at 2 Curriculum include:

– Learning how to get along with others in a group setting
– Taking turns and sharing
– Building creativity through artistic expression
– Learning problem-solving skills
– Building self-confidence
– Moral principles, including non-denominational Bible Time
– Experiencing a love of learning that will last a lifetime!
